John is responsible for developing investment opportunities in high-growth Internet ventures. He also provides functional expertise to assist existing portfolio companies. He previously held founder or senior roles at startups in San Francisco, Delhi, and Toronto.

Most recently, John was the Chief Technology Officer at CommunityLend Inc., an innovative financial services company in Toronto. CommunityLend has raised $7M in venture financing. The company enjoyed explosive growth in loan volume as its sales financing platform went from serving 0 to over 500 Canadian businesses during his tenure.

Previously, John founded Savvica, an online social media company focused on international education. The company operates LearnHub.com which was used by over 2.5 million students in the month of May 2011, making it the 12th most visited website in India (QuantCast), and the #1 education site in the world's largest student market. In 2010, the company acquired its KPCB-backed rival, StudyPlaces. Savvica is financed by Educomp (EDSO.BO)--India's largest education company--and currently has 90 employees based in Toronto & Delhi.

Prior to that venture, John was the Director of Engineering at Affinity Labs, an online communities company in San Francisco. Affinity Labs was funded by the Mayfield Fund and Trinity Ventures. It was acquired after 14 months by Monster Worldwide (Nasdaq:MNST) for $61M after remarkable user engagement and revenue growth.

John holds a B.Math (Honours Computer Science) from the University of Waterloo.
